उत्तराखण्ड राज्य के पहाड़ी इलाकों में एक पौधा मिलता है, जिसे छूने लेने से बिच्छु काटने का सा दर्द होता है।
स्थानीय भाषा में इसे सिन, सिसोण या कन्डाली बोला जाता है ओर हिंदी भाषी लोग इसे बिच्छु बूटी के नाम से जानते हैं।
ये काफी कमाल का पौधा है ,इसके नाम से जो वाकिफ़ हैं उनके शरीर मे रोंगटे जरूर खड़े हो जाते हैं खासतौर पर उनके, जिन्हें कभी ना कभी ये लगा है,क्योकिं इसके लगते ही की बिच्छु के काटने जैसा दर्द होने लगता है।
वनस्पति विज्ञान की भाषा में इस पौधे को Urtica Deoica के नाम से जाना जाता है और यह Urticacae प्रजाति का पौधा है।
भारत में कहीं भी Nettle की खेती नही की जाती है ,यह बंजर जमीन या खेतों के किनारे रास्तों में स्वतः ही पैदा हो जाता है।
अगर इसकी व्ययसायिक खेती की बात करें तो भारत को छोड़ विश्वभर में इसकी खूब व्यावसायिक खेती की जाती है और इससे दवाईयाँ, चाय ईको फैब्रिक बनाया जाता है। और ये व्यवसायिक खेती अब से नही बल्कि वर्षो से की जाती है।
Nettle हमारे लिए बहुत लाभकारी पौधा है ,इसमें विटामिन A, C आयरन, मैग्नीज़, पोटैशियम, कैल्शियम अच्छी मात्रा में पाए जाते है। इसमें लगभग 16 एमिनो अम्ल भी पाए जाते है।
Nettle का पौधा हृदय रोग, किडनी रोग, तथा UTI के उपचार में सहायक है। इसमें carboxylic acid व Formic Acid होता है जिस कारण इसका उपयोग कीटनाशक के रूप में भी किया जाता है। इसके छोटे छोटे काँटों में हिस्टामिन होता है जिस वजह से जब ये हमारे शरीर के संपर्क में आता है तो जिस जगह लगता है वहाँ पर बिच्छु के काटने जैसा दर्द देता है।
Nettle के पौधे में प्रति 100 ग्राम में वसा 5.2 ग्राम, प्रोटीन 28.5 ग्राम, कार्बोहाइड्रेट 47.4 ग्राम, कैल्शियम 113 ग्राम, तथा पोटैशियम 917.2 ग्राम तक पाये जाते हैं।
इसके ऊपरी भाग में 6 प्रकार के तत्व पाए जाते है इनमें हैं।
* Cafferic Acid
* Rutin
* Quercetin
* Hyperin
* Isoquercitin
* Beta-Sitosterol.
Nettle में विटामिन A, C व D के साथ प्रोटीन 21 से 23 प्रतिशत, फाइबर 9 से 21 प्रतिशत, कैरोटीन 50 माइक्रो ग्राम/ ग्राम, Ribolloflavin 4 माइक्रो ग्राम/ग्राम, विटामिन E 10 माइक्रो ग्राम/ग्राम तक पाये जाते हैं।
द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध के समय से ही यूरोप में nettle का उत्पादन किया जाता रहा है। खास तौर पर इसे फाइबर प्लांट के रूप में उगाया जाता रहा है।
1940 में जर्मन और ऑस्ट्रिया में भी लगभग 500 हेक्टेयर भूमि में nettle का उत्पादन शुरू किया गया था।
Nettle का यदि भारत में भी व्यवसायिक खेती के रूप में उत्पादन किया जाए तो अच्छे परिणाम मिलेंगे। क्योकिं इसका उपयोग सब्जी के अलावा, दवाइयों में फाइबर के रूप में विश्वभर में किया जा रहा है।

Nettle - Scorpion Boots
A plant is found in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand state, which touches the pain of scorpion bite.
In the local language, it is called Sin, Sisson or Kandali and Hindi speaking people know it as Scorpion Booty.

Nettle is not cultivated anywhere in India, it is produced automatically in the paths of barren land or along the fields.
